I was born and raised in Costa Rica where I attended and later taught at a school that was Montessori and Waldorf inspired. My degrees and certifications are in art, music, literature, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and Waldorf education.
My journey in teaching began with music education. I later felt at home in the school classroom where I could weave interdisciplinary experiences for children. The educational environments that I have worked in for over 10 years in Costa Rica and Michigan included programs where the curriculum was infused with art, where children spent much time outdoors, and where the individual child and their interests and needs were a priority. Some of these schools were multilingual environments. I consider it an honor and privilege to return to the classroom to collaborate and sing with them!
My family and I recently moved to Valparaiso and after being home with my youngest child for some years, I continue to feel drawn to spaces and people who value and respect children; we all have much to learn from them!
I am looking forward being a part of the Valparaiso Montessori School community.
